Slayage 11

Slayage: The International Journal of Buffy+ and the Association for the Study of Buffy+ invite welcome presenters and attendees eleventh biennial Slayage Conference (SC11). Devoted to creative works and workers of the ‘fuzzy set’ surrounding Buffy the Vampire Slayer, SC11 will be held on the campus of Illinois State University in Normal Illinois, 9-12 July 2026. This eleventh convening of Slayage conference will be organized by Local Arrangements Chair Bin Lizzo.

Submissions

Proposals should be submitted online to using this form or the button below and will be reviewed by program chairs Cynthia Burkhead, Jessica Hautsch, and James Rocha. Submissions must be received by April 15th, 2026. Decisions will be made no later than April 30th; however, a rolling response to early submissions will be provided.  Questions regarding proposals can be directed to the conference email address: slayage.conference@gmail.com.

Location Information

Illinois State University is the heart of Bloomington-Normal, IL and also easily accessible via a variety of transportation methods. So, when making your plans to attend the conference, first, feel free to reach out to the Conference Local Area Chair, Bin Lizzo at RLizzo@ilstu.edu with any questions you may have. But also, feel free to read on below for some easy travel options:

Easy Flights Options:

• Fly into the Central Illinois Regional Airport that is located a quick 15 minutes from Illinois State University. This regional airport has daily connecting flights to and from Chicago O’Hare Airport, Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, Atlanta International Airport, and a few others.
• Fly into Peoria International Airport that is a relaxed 45 minute drive from Illinois State University. Peoria International Airport has daily connecting flights to and from Chicago O’Hare Airport, Dallas/Fort Word Airport, Charlotte Airport, Denver International Airport, and a few others.

Easy Train Options:

• Normal, IL is also home to an Amtrak Station that is an easy 5-10 minute walk from Illinois State University. Via this Amtrak Station you can take a train directly to and from Chicago’s Union Station, St. Louis’s Gateway Transportation Center, or any of the smaller stops along these routes. Or, if you wanted to be a bit more adventurous, you could take a connecting train route from almost anywhere within the continental United States.

On Campus Accommodations

Good news regarding on site conference accommodation: Illinois State University is pleased to offer affordable on-campus housing options in the dorms for anyone attending the 11th Biennial Slayage Conference! Double occupancy rooms, for those who want to stay with a friend, or single occupancy rooms, for those who want a private space, will be available. Whether you choose a single occupancy room or a double occupancy room, linens are included in the cost of your stay. Double occupancy Rooms are $45 per person per night. Single occupancy rooms are $55 per night.
